Fi Glover a UK BBC TV and Radio presenter, has been so 'mesmerised' by La Bergerie au Bouyssou that she reports on her many holidays here in her column in a UK national magazine:

"Perched high above the lush valleys of the Lot river lies Le Bouyssou, a gite so lovely that I almost don't want to tell you about it.

"The hilltop breeze charms the surface of the pool, the verbenas sway, a swallowtail butterfly wafts through. Everyone relaxes. We have visited with the same friends both years and one of the daily highlights is to eat on the terrace after the kids have gone to bed, looking at the starry, starry night and talking . . ."

What an incredible two weeks in a rural retreat beyond perfect.

As soon as we entered the house we felt at home. Not only is it beautifully equipped, lovely to look at but it has a sense of home from home that immediately makes you comfortable.

Every attention to detail has been considered, from lovely soaps, toiletries and bath robes as well as the cleanliness and pretty furnishings.

The area is a pleasure to explore and find gorgeous medieval villages steeped in charm and the incredible views of hills, rocks and rivers along the winding roads are simply breath-taking.

All this said it is Sarah and her wonderful family that makes this place truly special from the home made treats, to their warmth and totally welcoming nature. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know each and every one of you. Be proud of your achievement.

What a brilliant week we have had at Le bouyssou. Beautiful house, lovely gardens and superb peaceful setting. The kids have absolutely loved the outdoor facilities (pirate ship, wagon, swings, the list goes on . . .). The salt water pool is a real treat.

We really appreciated all of the fresh vegetables (best tomatoes we have ever tasted), fruits and cake of course and the children loved going to get the eggs.

Overall, an extremely special holiday house, which is head and shoulders above any others we have stayed in - a beaut!

We especially appreciated the little touches and thoughtfulness of the hosts. We are already thinking about how to return!

Thank you for such a wonderful holiday! This is a wonderful home from home and your thoughtfulness made travelling with a toddler so much easier! All the toys, baby equipment and shopping service meant that you packing was light than it would have been otherwise.

All of the extra touches made it particularly special - the home made cooked food was delicious, thank you! Pippa loved it here: spotting birds and lizards, splashing in the pool and playing in the sandpit. We will definitely recommend it to friends and we will come back soon! Thank you.

Thank you once again for a really lovely holiday. The sun really did come out for our second visit and we had such a brilliant time. The house was just as lovely as we remembered and we made the most of the amazing pool. It's not often you get to watch butterflies floating around wild flowers whilst you do your lengths!

We also really enjoyed seeing you again and spending some time with you. You are perfect hosts and both times that we have stayed you have made us feel so welcome. The pizza evening this year was a highlight, chatting to you all while looking out at the gorgeous view of the valley and eating your delicious food.

La bergerie is honestly the best self catering accommodation that I have ever stayed in - immaculate, luxurious and comfortable at the same time. I would really recommend it to anyone, it is a stunning place.

Thank you for everything that you have done for us this week, which has helped to make this holiday probably our best ever - from the lemon cake, to the fresh fruit and veg., to the provision of extra baby/toddler stuff (including the 'personalised' books left out!), to the recommendations on places to go and the superb treasure hunt - the highlight of the week!

This is such a beautiful and peaceful part of France there is so much to do and see . . we very much enjoyed our trips to Figeac and Belcastel, both highly recommended and beautiful.

The kids have been wonderfully happy and always engaged in something. Our 2 year old was fascinated by watching the field opposite the house changing from tall eaves of corn through to bales of straw over the course of the 2 weeks . . .

I must say that what we found at La Bergerie far exceeded our expectations.  The pictures on the website show a beautiful vacation spot, however, they just don’t do justice nor encompass the ambiance created both in and around the property.  The renovated sheep barn (yes, you get to stay where sheep once resided) has been magically turned into a very beautiful vacation house and truly feels like a “home away from home”.  

 If you are fortunate enough to stay here, I highly recommend you try some of the suggestions on “things to do” left by the hosts.  As some days were quite warm, it was a delight to cool down with a “dip” at the end of our day.  There is so much to see and do in this area, that we will definitely return….and we hope to be fortunate enough to stay, once again, at La Bergerie.  Our heart-felt thanks to Sarah and her family for their contribution to our wonderful holiday experience.

Absolutely superb in every way! Loved everything about the Villa, the French countryside and our hosts! Sarah has thought of every detail. It is simply superb. I would have quite happily just moved in. Sarah and her family were fabulous. They did everything they could to make our stay an enjoyable one. Nothing was too hard. As a foodie I especially loved all the local markets. From New Zealand our French was not that great but we had lots of fun making our selves understood. The locals were very patient with us. It had been on my bucket list to rent a Villa in France. I can say without reservation that it was the best holiday ever. A huge thanks to you all! Hopefully one day we will be back.

We have been fortunate enough to stay in some wonderful places around the world but we have never stayed anywhere where so much care and thought has gone into the accommodation and holiday experience. In particular, Bertie was thrilled to find so many fabulous toys to play with . . a toddlers paradise! The older boys loved dressing up and playing pirates and Indians with Millie. The setting is stunning, the pool and gardens beautiful and the house exquisite. This place is wonderful and beautiful - it's a small chunk of paradise that we are all mesmerised by. The attention to detail has made our holiday fabulous and what amazing generosity of spirit (and what amazing vegetables!). It was, quite simply, the best family holiday we have had.

We have loved visiting Cajarc and the market in Villefranche, the Sunday market in Villeneuve, Bar de L'Ete was super for all of the children (5,4 and 2) and we thought all of the hilltop villages are a treat. The daily run to the bakery is a joy. Millie (the owner's daughter) has been a brilliant 'spy master' to our boys. We are so sad to go but we shall return!

"What an absolutely wonderful week we have had at La Bergerie au Bouyssou. Sarah, David, Sarah's parents and Millie have made us feel so welcome. We've had beautiful fresh eggs and home grown strawberries all week; Sarah even kindly came over with some delicious home made pesto for the boys after learning they loved it. The villa is the best equipped we've ever stayed in (and there's been a few!) with beautiful crockery in the kitchen and every utensil you could think of. Sarah obviously has lovely taste!
